On May 23, 2019, Professor Wanqin JIN was invited to attend the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) award ceremony held in Birmingham International Conference Center, UK. Professor Jin was recognized with the Underwood Medal “for his globally-leading research in the area of membrane technologies towards application for production of clean energy and clean water“.

In 1957, the Board of Trustees of the IChemE in the exercise of the powers conferred upon it by Royal Charter has decided to award a Medal called “The Underwood Medal” to one or more individuals from academia or industry who have made a significant sustained recent contribution to research in the area of separations. The contribution can be, but need not be limited to, the development of the science, engineering or understanding behind an existing separation technology or development and implementation of a new separation technology. Impact of the contribution should be seen to extend beyond the individual(s)’ specialised area.

Professor Jin is the first Chinese recipient of the award.
